Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GTA 1/24
Tamiya welcomes an updated re-issue of Item 24188 1/24 Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GTA (originally sold in 1997) with updated decals, instruction manual and packaging, plus newly-included masking stickers for front and rear window moldings.
In addition to the standard version, the street-customized version - in which front and rear bumpers are removed - can also be recreated by this kit. The sportiest of the 1,600cc cars in the Guilia series was the Giulia Sprint GT, which was launched in 1963. It had a unique stepped front visage with the traditional Alfa Romeo shield and emblem prominently adorning the grille. 1965 saw the release of the Guilia Sprint GTA, a seriously lightened race model with aluminum body and a twin-spark engine. About the real Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GTA
The Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GTA is a legendary sports car that holds a special place in automotive history. Introduced in the 1960s, it was based on the popular Giulia Sprint GT model but was extensively modified for racing purposes. "GTA" stands for "Gran Turismo Alleggerita," which translates to "Grand Touring Lightened."
Here are some key features and aspects of the Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GTA:
Lightweight Construction: One of the defining characteristics of the GTA was its lightweight construction. Alfa Romeo used aluminum alloy for various body panels, such as the doors, hood, and trunk lid, to reduce weight significantly compared to the standard Giulia Sprint GT.
Performance: The GTA was powered by a high-performance version of Alfa Romeo"s classic twin-cam inline-four engine. Various iterations of the GTA were produced with different engine specifications, but they typically featured twin-plug cylinder heads, high-compression pistons, and other upgrades to enhance performance. With its lightweight design and powerful engine, the GTA achieved impressive performance both on the track and the road.
Racing Success: The Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GTA enjoyed considerable success in motorsport. It competed in various racing series and events, including the European Touring Car Championship and the European Hillclimb Championship. The GTA achieved numerous victories and championships, solidifying its reputation as a formidable racing car.
Handling and Dynamics: Thanks to its lightweight construction, balanced chassis, and advanced suspension setup, the GTA offered exceptional handling and driving dynamics. It was renowned for its agility, responsiveness, and ability to corner at high speeds, making it a favorite among racing drivers and enthusiasts alike.
Limited Production: While the Giulia Sprint GT was produced in relatively large numbers for a mass-market sports car, the GTA was produced in much smaller quantities. Its specialized construction and focus on performance meant that it was more expensive to produce, leading to a limited production run. This rarity has contributed to the GTA"s status as a highly sought-after classic car.
Overall, the Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GTA is celebrated for its combination of lightweight design, high-performance engineering, and racing pedigree. It remains a prized collector"s item and an enduring symbol of Alfa Romeo"s motorsport heritage.
